CHARCOT RECONSTRUCTION
X-ray of an ankle that is now deformed from Charcot disease. Charcot disease, also called diabetic neuropathic osteoarthropathy, affects certain diabetics. It can result in breakdown and deformity of any joint, but the foot and ankle are especially susceptible.
Reconstruction of the rearfoot and ankle using an external fixator. In certain diabetic patients, this surgery can help correct large deformities.
TOTAL ANKLE REPLACEMENT

X-rays following total ankle joint replacement using a two piece implant. These types of implants cannot provide a "normal" joint, but they can provide a drastic reduction in pain and a significant increase in motion.
